i5 ELITE completed its second full football season with huge success. Both the 6th and 7th-grade teams advanced to the GYFL (Grassroots Youth Football League) playoffs where they represented i5 with great honor. Great coaching was evident and watching the kids grow from the beginning of the season to the end showed their commitment to Be ELITE!
The 6th-grade team, led by Coach DMarco “Smiley” Gray, went through the regular season battling teams from all over the Metro and Central PA. They challenged themselves to get better every week. Taking on some great teams in the DMV, they charged their way into the playoffs; each game gaining momentum and confidence. Thanks to Coach Smiley and his staff, the i5 ELITE 6th Grade team finished the season with a 33-0 victory and a GYFL Championship.
The 7th-grade team also had a good 2015 campaign, going 6-2 during the regular season and earning a first round Bye in the GYFL Playoffs. The 7th-grade division was competitive from top to bottom and each week raised a new challenge. The kids grew under the direction of coach Tanardo Sharps and staff. The team lost a heartbreaker in the GYFL semis but grew up as young men and football players.
Sticking with the mission of i5 ELITE, both teams worked to help our young men grow on and off the field. It is our challenge to create an environment that will help our athletes be winners in life on and off the field of play.
